I would like to someone who goes owling…I’ve never done it before and would love to see some. Where should I go? I just need one spot to start. Is there one season that is better than others, and a certain time of night they are more likely to be out?

The owls will start courting in December. They are one of the earliest birds to start their breeding cycle. If you go into heavily wooded conifer or mixed forests at dusk or dawn, you might hear them. Otherwise look for the young to fledge April thru July in deep wooded settings like the Stimson forest, the Interurban trail and at Point Whitehorn. You can see them at the Sardis Raptor Center most Saturdays from 10-4.
