Birding on the waters of Boundary and Semiahmoo Bays and Drayton Harbor gets more exciting as we move into fall. Numbers of wintering loons, grebes and scoters are increasing and are being joined by growing numbers of scaup, mergansers, goldeneyes, harlequins, dabbling ducks and more. Resident songbirds, as well a few passing migratory species, also can be found on the spit. Birders can expect to find thirty to forty species on a fall outing at Semiahmoo, ranging from Anna’s hummingbirds to bald eagles and from black turnstones to great blue herons.
This is an excellent trip for birders just getting started as well as more experienced birders. It’s as easy as a walk on the beach. Please come and join us at our local designated Important Bird Area.
Time: 9 AM - Noon. Meet at Semiahmoo County Park parking lot.
