Meet at the Stimpson Family Nature Preserve Trailhead, 2076 Lake Louise Road.
This leisurely two-mile hike through a mixture of old-growth habitat and freshwater ponds allows for both beginner and experienced birders to get more acquainted with our native birds. November is a slow time for migratory songbirds, making it a good time to appreciate our resident species. This hike is great for spotting waterfowl such as Hooded Mergansers and Wood Ducks, various Woodpeckers, and resident songbird species. There are also several species of owls year-round in the preserve. This is a 2 mile round trip on well maintained, packed dirt trails. Keep in mind that the ground is often uneven and can contain large rocks and roots. Good walking/hiking shoes are recommended. Remember also to bring water, appropriate layers for the weather (raincoats are never a bad idea), and snacks if you want.
