Semiahmoo Spit

We hope that you can join us on the beaches of Semiahmoo for a 3-hour birding experience at Whatcom County’s only designated “Important Bird Area.” March is usually one of the best months for watching water birds at Semiahmoo. We can expect to find good numbers of Common Loons, even larger numbers of Pacific Loons and a few Red-throated Loons too, as well as at least three species of grebes, over a dozen species of ducks and geese, a few species of shorebirds and much more. Expert or beginning birder, all are welcome. Walking on the beaches and in the marina area is relatively easy though we may walk as much as 2 miles. But all birding areas are relatively close to auto access.
