Birch Bay State Park - Birding by Behavior

Meet in front of the BP Heron Center (right by the playground), Birch Bay Dr.

Join us for a morning of winter birding along the rocky shores of Birch Bay State Park. Starting at the BP Heron Center, we will spend a couple hours walking beside the water and, if time allows, along the brackish wetland directly adjacent. The focus of this trip will be identifying birds based on characteristics other than plumage; the open waters of the bay allow for easy comparison of many species. Expect to see loons, grebes, ducks, and many other saltwater specialists. We will be walking along the beach, which, while level, can be quite rocky at times, so be sure to wear appropriate shoes. A Discover pass is required to park at Birch Bay SP.
