March Membership Meeting: Understanding Red Knot Migration Patterns on the Pacific Coast of the Americas

Paul DeBruyn is a retired wildlife biologist. He most recently worked for The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife as the assistant district wildlife biologist for Whatcom and Skagit counties.

Paul Has been involved with the red knot program since 2015. He will discuss his role in capturing and banding red knots in Gray’s Harbor and will provide us with information on current findings. This project, researching the Red Knot Migration Patterns along the Pacific Coast, is a cooperative effort between WDFW, USFWS, USGS and involves biologists from the United States and Mexico. Paul recently returned from a trip to Baja California where he observed red knots (and other shorebirds) on their wintering grounds.
