The Rescue of the Umatilla Burrowing Owls and Other Discoveries

Online Presentation

Join David Johnson from the Global Owl Project as he reveals to us the unusual rescue efforts using artificial burrows to bring back the Burrowing Owls at the Umatilla Army Depot (Oregon). David will describe what he has learned during this 11 year project and will discuss the demographics, mate selection, dispersal, migration patterns and other facets of the ecology of the Western Burrowing Owl.  The Burrowing Owl is known to occur in open grassland/shrub steppe areas of the Americas and currently there are 22 recognized subspecies.
